How does this service work?A Registered Nurse is
assigned to the case and will complete a comprehensive pediatric
assessment and home evaluation. This will generate specific
treatment goals for that child for approval by the child's
primary care physician.
In most cases a Home Health Aide (HHA) is assigned to the
child for a specific number of hours per week. The HHA will
assist the child in organizing homework, completing household
chores, tending to personal hygiene and encouraging adequate
nutrition and hydration. They also will accompany the child
into the community so they may take advantage of any appropriate
social and recreational opportunities. This would include such
things as: the YMCA, Boys or Girls Clubs, YES and other school
programs.
The primary purpose of the Home Health Aide's presence is:
To teach the child to get along with others.
 | To help the child explore their strengths and interests. |
 | To MAXIMIZE EACH CHILD'S POTENTIAL
|
Who supervises the aides? The Registered Nurse serves as
the immediate supervisor and the case manager.
What type of training do the House Health Aides receive?
Aside from Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide
(HHA) training, Excel provides ongoing training in various topics
such as supportive relationships, safe physical interventions, and
behavior modification. The Nurse in charge of each case will
determine other specific training needed for the HHA assigned to the
case.
